Glynn Purnell’s bold and innovative cooking has brought him critical acclaim and numerous awards including a Michelin star providing the ultimate gourmet adventures at his eponymous restaurant in the heart of Birmingham.

Purnell’s is a chic, contemporary, fine-dining restaurant located in one of Birmingham city centre’s finest conservation areas. It received its Michelin star in January 2009. The 45 cover restaurant occupies a Victorian redbrick and terracotta corner building, with large windows on both sides providing plenty of natural light during the day. The restaurant has its own bar and lounge area, for diners only, where a pre-dinner cocktail or after dinner coffee or digestif can be enjoyed on comfortable surroundings.

Referred to as a Yummy Brummie by Olive Magazine, which has stuck ever since. Glynn Purnell is one of the country’s culinary stars in the kitchen, on stage and TV – a popular presenter of BBC Saturday Kitchen. Winning dozens of awards and critical accolades for his inspired, adventurous cooking, he has remained firmly rooted in his home city where achieved his desire to win the city’s first Michelin star, an ambition gained in January 2005 as Head Chef at Jessica’s Restaurant.

His first appearance at the BBC Good Food Show was in 2005 and he has since appeared on UKTV Food’s Great Food Live programme as well as presenting a BBC1 documentary ‘Working The Sea’ and Saturday Kitchen.

On leaving school he joined the Metropole Hotel at the NEC as an apprentice and worked for 6 years, where he discovered his talent and passion for fine dining and began winning awards such as the prestigious Salon Culinaire.

Glynn also worked at the 2 Michelin-starred Hibiscus restaurant in Ludlow for eight months under the tutor-ledge of Chef Claude Bosi!
